Overview

Walsh is currently seeking a Senior Safety Manager for Healthcare Construction at our project in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The Safety Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the Project Safety and Health Program.  The Safety Manager shall be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State and Local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages any workers compensation cases and return to work program
  • Responsible for providing safety preplanning, site specific safety plans
  • Conducts site specific safety orientations
  • Conducts safety inspections and quarterly audits
  • Reviews all subcontractor site specific safety plans
  • Creating and reviewing job hazard analysis
  • Manages all near miss, incident investigation and root cause analysis process
  • Must meet all quality expectations and deadlines related to reporting and client follow-up
  • Provides weekly summaries on safety goals and results for the project
  • Provides construction safety related training and education
  • Coaches project team members on the jobsite regarding professional development
  • Responsible to maintain 16 hours of continuing education in related field

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree, preferably with a focus in Safety and an emphasis in Construction
  • 10 years of experience in Construction-based safety position preferably in Healthcare
  • Experience with Hospital Construction Infectious Disease Control a plus
  • Contractor Controlled Insurance/Owner Controlled Insurance programs preferred
  • Microsoft word, excel, power point and outlook preferred
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens Trained
  • Current OSHA Outreach Authorized trainer a plus
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred
