Overview

Walsh is currently seeking an Project Engineer Estimator Trainee  for the Mid-Atlantic Heavy Civil Division at our Washington DC location.

The trainee will learn to support and work with management, operations and estimating staff in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. The trainee learn extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles. Qualified individuals will have be currently studying engineering or construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
  • Determine labor and equipment costs.
  • Train and learn on accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
  • Review and learn to understand all bid documents and assess project risks.
  • Train to understand project logistics and project schedule.
  • Prepare bid packages. Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.
  • Prepare estimates at different levels of completion (conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)
  • Assist with certain post-bid buyouts.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a 4 year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Computers skills  or knowledge with MS Office, Primavera P6
  • Excellent written and oral communicator
