    Walsh is currently seeking a Construction Assistant Project Manager with specialization in Cost Engineering for our Crenshaw/LAX Corridor Project for our California Heavy Civil South team.

    Responsibilities

    The Assistant Project Manager’s responsibilities include:

    • Project planning, scheduling and coordination
    • Project estimating, forecasting and management of budgets
    • Ability to prioritize, develop and maintain project schedules
    • Document control management (RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, etc.)
    • Safety management
    • Quality Control / Quality Assurance checks
    • Contract and change order management
    • Track weekly construction progress
    • Resolution of problems involving labor disputes, material delivery and contract administration
    • Understands the basic principles and management of a cost report, including generating cost codes, grouping cost codes and summarizing costs
    • Assist with managing subcontractor and major purchase order payment application via a Schedule of Values
    • Manage potential change orders related to subcontractors/vendors and assist estimating team in gathering information for pricing
    • Assist with forecasting subs/vendors costs and incorporating the potential change orders into the forecasting process
    • Assist with tracking and forecasting the project’s indirect costs
    • Ensure self-perform work is properly cost coded; assist with reviewing productivity rates with management
    • Assist with forecasting self-perform work
    • Generate summary cost reports, charts and graphs
    • Assist with managing internal and external change documentation
    • Participate in weekly and monthly cost reviews with project discipline managers
    • Train project staff on systems and policies for tracking cost
    • Work with managers to develop and refine cost and quantity tracking methods

    Qualifications

    We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

    • Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred
    • Minimum 4 years professional experience in construction or construction management
    • Experience with construction software is preferred
    • Experience with CMiC PM/Enterprise is preferred
    • Strong data entry and data management skills
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication
    • Ability to prioritize and manage own time
    • Strong ability to follow up and drive completion of work
    • Ability to establish and maintain relationships
    • Self-motivated
    • Critical thinking and decision-making skills
