    Walsh is currently seeking a Sr. Safety Manager for the Crenshaw/LAX Corridor Project in Los Angeles, CA.

    The Sr. Safety Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the Project Safety and Health Program.  The Sr. Safety Manager shall be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State and Local regulations.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage all aspects of the HSE program for a billion dollar transportation project.
    • Sustain, implement and monitor systems to ensure a world class safety culture and promote an Actively Caring mindset throughout all levels of the project team.
    • Manage the HSE team to ensure overall Cal/OSHA compliance with both CSO and TSO regulations.
    • Develop HSE team members to ensure continuous professional growth and performance improvement.
    • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with the operations team, the client and Cal/OSHA representatives.
    • Serve as the primary project contact for regulatory organizations governing Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
    • Report out to HSE executives, project leadership and company ownership on the status of the project’s HSE program.
    • Manage department budget and maintain foresight to ensure forecasts are maintained.
    • Manage Contractor Controlled Insurance Program and actively manage injury/illnesses cases to minimize losses.
    • Perform field walks to ensure cultural and compliance goals are being met.
    • Plan, control and coordinate all work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
    • Facilitates or participates in incident investigations and near miss reporting, as needed.
    • Overseeing Storm water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP).

    Qualifications

    • Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineer, or Construction Management degree preferred
    • 8+ years of construction experience managing safety or a related field, with demonstrated ability to provide a high level of safety leadership to both management and craft workers.
    • Minimum Certification Requirements: Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
    • CSP/CIH STRONGLY preferred
    • First Aid, CPR/AED preferred
    • OSHA 510/500 preferred
    • Cal/OSHA CSO and TSO experience preferred
    • Knowledge of regulations and standards and hazard recognition injury management skills, and written and verbal communication skills as they pertain to the building construction industry such as Cal/OSHA, EM-385, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, TCEQ, State and Local rules.
