  • Overview

    The Strategic Projects Department is searching for an experienced attorney to join our group which primarily supports our company with respect to project procurements and contract negotiations.  We are in need of a full-time attorney with approximately four to seven years of experience to assist with underwriting risk with respect to projects we are pursuing, providing risk management solutions, and drafting and negotiating various contracts including partnership agreements, design agreements and owner construction contracts. Our new attorney will learn the Walsh approach and procedures quickly with immediate hands-on experience and independent responsibility.

    • Primary responsibility for our company's complex project pursuits such as Public Private Partnerships projects, CMAR, and design-build. Such responsibilities include underwriting the contract documents, risk assessment, preparing comments and questions to the owner and working closely with the project team and our partners to adequately address and mitigate risk and costs.
    • Negotiating the contract documents with owners in one on one sessions and upon award, achieving commercial and financial close of our company's major projects including negotiation of all the ancillary documents.
    • Preparing and negotiating contracts with owners and our company's partners in project pursuits such as designers, joint venture partners and subcontractors.
    • Works independently and as the lead with respect to each of the projects he/she is involved in.
    • Has a supervisory and training role with respect to the Department's Contract Counsel and intern positions.
    • Leading contract administration training programs, requiring the ability to distill and convey complex legal concepts to an audience without a legal background.


    • J.D. Degree required
    • 4-7 years of transactional and construction-related legal experience
    • Knowledge of, and experience with, alternative delivery project pursuits, including Design-Build, EPC, CMAR, and Private-Public Partnership procurements
    • General knowledge of the U.S. and Canadian construction industry
    • Ability to communicate effectively with Walsh ownership and management
    • Ability to negotiate contractual legal and commercial issues
    • Problem solving skills together with the confidence to take initiative and a leadership role on projects
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
