  • Overview

    Archer Western a member of the Walsh Group is currently seeking a Project Nurse for our South Capitol Bridge Builders’ Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge Project located in Washington, DC. This position will report to the Project Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.  

    This is a long-term assignment and primarily a day-shift position.

    • Provides work related healthcare services to employees.
    • Evaluates and treats employees with injuries and/or illnesses.
    • Provides subsequent follow-up treatment as needed.
    • Assists with the development, implementation and administration of preventive healthcare which may include flu vaccines and blood pressure screening.
    • Provides advice on hygiene and methods of disease prevention.
    • Manages acute and chronic work-related injuries, illnesses and/or conditions.
    • Responds to emergency medical situations and directs medical operations accordingly.
    • Provides occupational health services in accordance with standing orders and protocols as approved by the Medical Control Physician.
    • Supervises the transfer of employees, as needed, to ensure continuity of care.
    • Coordinates and/or presents programs on preventative healthcare and/or disease prevention.
    • Educates and counsels individuals to promote positive healthcare behaviors, self-care, safe work behaviors and ergonomic awareness.
    • Coordinates and/or assists in administering drug and alcohol programs.
    • Reviews and recommends the need for supplementary medical support staff, medical equipment and/or supplies.
    • Participates in the education of medical support personnel, including training, development, and performance monitoring.
    • Maintains and prepares medical reports in accordance with applicable Workers’ Compensation claim and work site requirements.
    • Participates in Workers’ Compensation/insurance claims reviews, as required
    • Maintains medical and first aid reports as defined in the Walsh HSE Manual and OSHA Guidelines.
    • Participates in onsite Disaster Drills and the evaluation of these drills.
    • Provides support, as needed, to the Occupational Health and Medical Surveillance programs.
    • Proficient in Multitasking.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Registered Nurse with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
    • Currently licensed in Washington D.C. or eligible for Washington D.C. licensure within 90 days of employment
    • Current certifications: Healthcare provider for; Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
    • Must be a US Citizen.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Skilled in primary care principles and practices of Occupational Healthcare as well as, handling emergency situations.
    • Advanced knowledge of medical record-keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice and applicable government regulations
    • Experience in the Occupational Health setting and/or Emergency Department.
    • Proficient in organizing, training, and directing an emergency response team.
    • Advanced knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects along with the proper administration of such.
    • Knowledge of HSE programs and measures for the prevention of illnesses and injuries.
    • Proficient in managing accurate records with attention to details.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certified Occupational Health Nurse – Specialist (COHN-S)
    • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
    • Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist through CAOHC 
    • Trauma Nurse Core Course Certification (TNCC)
    • Certified to perform spirometry testing and interpretation per NIOSH approved training course
    • Completion of the Toxic Chemical Training for Medical Support Personnel course
    • Completion of the Medical Management of Chemical Casualties Course  
    • Experience writing site policy and procedures.
