  • Overview

    The Walsh Group is currently seeking a Business Group Accounting Manager for our Southern California Transportation Division in Corona, CA.

    The position manages the Accounting operations for all transportation projects in Southern California, and has significant experience in accounting operations in the construction industry. This position will be the right-hand person to Program Managers and the Business Group Leader.

    • Consolidation of P&L reports
    • Audits project accounting procedures for the Region.
    • Regular reviews of issues, overhead, P&Ls, and regional report cards
    • Coordinates reviews of job cost reports
    • Visit jobsites frequently to ensure both Walsh and Federal compliance
    • Prepares business plans for the West Region
    • Represents the company in Owners meetings  
    • Demonstrates high level understanding of all Project Accounting functions and GAAP
    • Reviews and budgets overhead cost reports
    • Journal entry cost as necessary
    • Reviews and processes subcontracts, subcontract change orders and Performance and Payment bonds to ensure they are in compliance with specified terms.
    • Collects and reviews project subcontractor/supplier lien waivers.
    • Collects, reviews, and processes subcontractor/supplier monthly project invoices. Needs to ensure all invoices have been accrued properly and timely to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
    • Ensures proper payments to all subcontractors and major suppliers.
    • Supervises and manages jobsite Accountants in the Region. Hires, trains and develops staff
    • Provides financial information and support for prequals and new project bids
    • Conduct in depth monthly analysis of owner billings. Posts owner billings and ensures accurate revenue projections on all reporting.
    • Monitors cash flow and communicates with jobsites on tracking A/R
    • Ability to travel to other offices, corporate meetings, and jobsites.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or business-related field 5 - 10 years of accounting or finance experience
    • Held a previous Business Manager or Senior Accounting position for a construction company is preferred
    • Ability to manage an annual portfolio of $200M+   
    • Strong understanding of monthly accounting close process and ensures timely submittals
